Marvin's Room

With Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton mixed in a coktail it´s impossible not to cry... I just had to write cause these are two of my favourite actresses. Their effortlessly natural performances stand up for the marvelous Hollywood actresses they definetely are. Sharing the big screen with them is mini young Leonardo Dicaprio before the boom of Titanic. Director Jerry Zacs 1996.

Not for the sensitive ones, this is a movie from the Drama gender. Of course, disease takes place, but whereas other movies leave you devastated this one makes you forget the disease and focus on the beautiful series of events that are taking place.

Two sister's:  Lee (Meryl) and Bessie( Diane)that grow apart from each other when their father becomes ill, and only Diane decides to stay and assist him, while Merryl runs off to do her own.
Lee single-handedly raises two kids, not in the best way a mother can, but who are we to judge?
Hank (Leo) a ringmarole that apparently hates her mother and works on pulling off situations that will attract her mother's attention. A  broken boat lost at a tender age where every kid should be loved. The other kid ,on the contrary, is a lovely little kid. With Hank on a "nuts" center for attempting to burn down the house Lee receives a call from her sister making everything change.

The three members  of the family hit the road ( love the scene of Meryl and Leo smoking in the car) to the once home of Lee. Aunt Betsie doesn't know her nieces and neither do them, but couldn't care less when she heads off to hug Hank to make up for lost time. Moreover, picture a wanting to impress Meryl street  who attaches hair to appear more young and an uncomfortable hug between two sisters that haven't seen each other for 20 years.

What at first seems like a rebel, mad with the world type of kid who can't even fake a smile or let alone be seen having a good time, finds in Betsie what he's yearning for in his mother. His mother who  always nags him and refers to him as a lost case, contrasts with aunt Betsie who starts to make the effort of knowing him and spend their time together.

Moreover ,the two sisters begin to reconnect to the extent of wondering why they ever lost contact in the first place. I love the scene with the two sisters gossiping for late hours and a smoking Lee deciding something INSTATLY has to be done to her sister's dull wig.
Without knowing it Lee is coming back to herself.
Everything starts to fit into place: her evasive son Hank starts to make approaches, begins to smile and laugh, Diane is enjoying herself (despite knowing things might not work for her) and Lee finally is reconnecting with her son, father, sister and everything that had gotten her away from this place.

Everything seems to fit  like  pieces of a puzzle which were once lost, but finally found and put into place.

This movie is combined with such evident rightness one's only reponse is to clap OUT LOUD.
A movie that shows us at that when everything seems to be going wrong ,there's always a way back to happiness and that bad news can better be fought within your family fort.

Now wipe out the water from your noses people, I know you cried!!!!

Frozen

Could ever Disney get more emotional? Well it can, and this is by the hand of Frozen. I know we may seem too old to see Disney Movies, but ARE WE? No one's too old for a bit of cartoons. Films like UP, Monsters S.A, GRU, Tangled, Nemo and now Frozen are not only targeted for children. They are full of hidden messages for adults and beautiful scenes.Whilst a child would only see cartoons moving around, an adult will see more to what the essential message of the movie is. It's Disney's second best launching of the company since The Lion King and a total blockbuster  that has made 800 million dollars worlwide (without it even being launched on Japon and China). Only in USA it has made 300 million dollars.

It tells the story of two Sisters, grown apart because of big sister´s power to freeze everything she touches. Perhaps the plot doesn't seem so catchy; but if you have a sister you don´t see that often, or a mother you`ve recently fought with, go for this movie and you'll end up picking the phone and calling them like: Ehhh Mom/Sis are you there? It's nothing, I just wanted to check on you and tell you that I love you.

The cartoons which build up this movie can´t be anymore adorable!I mean, look at the photos, I wanna squeeze their cheeeks!!!!They're delicatly, computerly deviced and the mimic of their mouths with the actor's voices are great! Because yeah, yeah, yeah, THEY SING!Come on it's Disney, they always sing. I don´t want to be a spoiler, but one of the songs in the movie will keep you singing along the wholeeeeeeee fucking day.

Feeling like a monster and fearful for hurting people with her powers, Elsa moves to the top of the mountain and freezes a palace for herself. As Anna grows up,  she begins to understand what's happening to her sister and heads out to find her alone in the snow. Here is where she meets all the characters that accompany her on this journey. These are: The handsome towny, the pretender prince of Anna , an adorable Reindeer, and of course the charming most cutest OLAF.

OLAF is a snowman, main masterpiece of this movie, cause it's the snowman both sisters built together in their childhood. As pinochio, or woody from toy story, he comes alive! He's always following, making jokes and breaking himself into pieces.

A very tender story where you'll end up singing along, shed a tear or two and put a stupid face of enjoyment.

Don't ever judge Disney movies as childish, cause you`ll miss all the good there is to them....

The WOLF of Wall Street

"My name is Jordan Belfort, the year I turned 26 I made 49 Million Dollars, which really pissed me off because it was three shy of a million a week"

This movie has got so much advertising going around since the beginning of 2013 that it simply had to fuck your brains out! Starring always fuckable Leo Dicaprio as Jordan -what can I say of him-, Jonah Hill as Donnie (absolutely wanna have a friend like him in my life, hes fucking hilarious) and Margot Robbie as Naomi Lapaglia(the girl most of us wouldn't mind to be).

Scorcesese´s Masterpiece within a long-lasting career hand by hand with Dicaprio as one of his favourites. Leading his all top knotch movies like Shutter Island or Aviator etcetera etcetera. One of my best friends had the opportunity to work on the promotion of Scorcesese's film, and it was because she highly recommended it (and her movie presents like the SPECTACULAR WALL STREET T-SHIRT) & because of my boyfriend's insistance that I couldn't  not LOVE this movie.

It tells the story of young ambicious Jordan Belfort and how he managed to, as a naive innocent young kid who wants to make it as a broker on Wall Street, escalate to the top and became the world's most feracious and sleazoid salesmen! It's a movie based on the real life of Jordan Belfort , and as a true story ,it has to tickle your curiosity. I red somewhere that Leo met with Jordan to ask him how he felt when being referred to as "the wolf of Wall Street". Well here, my small amount of readers( always so humble hhahaha),is a thing you must see for yourselves!

He starts from nowhere and ends up everywhere: on every newspaper, magazine, on everyone´s gossip, on every girl's bed, on every boy's desire to become, on every Bill consumed, on every sale taking place, on every rich man's pocket, on every PILL swallowed!
What´s all this craving about The Wolf?

I know this movie may seem somewhat HARSH. RUDE, EROTIC or whatever synonym movie critics have addressed for this masterpiece. It is true to say though, is more of a boys movie, surrounded by 1000 FUCK WORDS, HOOKERS, ASSESS, DRUGS...
Maybe is because I love the dialogues or cause my boyfriend was abruptly obsessed with the coming out of this movie and kind of gave me the chills about it! He himself is a bit like that innocent Jordan Belfort before he got corrupted.

Eventhough the movie is RUDE and has MENACINGLY words that are not for all ears, they are these which make the movie outstanding.
It is what makes the movie ALIVE, all this INSULTS, DRUGS, LAUGHING AT THE GOVERNMENT,STEALING, BEING AN ASS,DRUG ADICTS, HOOKERS, PARALETIC HIGH MOMENTS. All along comes, AMBITION, GREED,MONEY, MONEY as the root of all evil. Its all the cune of SIN! Motivating his employees by awarding them with endless mind blowing ATTRACTIONS!

In some sequences our actors filmed for a whole week, feeling physically exhausted and simply unable to deal with their bones. Moreover, had they to contain their laughter because they would just explode. All the drugs we see, the drug abuse and the endless line snorting  is in fact real BABY VITAMINS,VITAMIN D!
I found Mathew Mcconaughey's acting pretty short , but  incredibly amazing! He´s the one that influences Jordan to become the forceful broker he becomes. And is in fact, the one that awakens Jordan's curiosity for all the Wall Street mania.

LEONARDO- applause, applause, applause!!!!
He´s not caught acting, he's just simply being, and being precisely the most DAMN FUCKING ASSHOLE in the whole entire world. And for that I give him the credit! He had me laughing nonstop from minute one to the last of all  scenes! Because he´s such an asshole he makes us want to join  him and be part of his clique! He was a conman towards the rich and the government! So what ? He was as clever as hell and managed to sell even the most ridiculous stupid pen! He gave people a reason to believe in themselves, to make rich out of the Rich, he was among all the money he stole a magnificient good person and a complete over-the-ball type of person. Was all this legal? ABSOLUTELY NOT!How can a man do so much drugs and stay focused? Extremely RARE!

A must SEE plus an undisputed success!

Blue Jasmine

BLUE JASMINE starring stunning Cate Blanchett, named by her step mother after her favourite flower.

They say that when Woody Allen calls or writes a letter to choose you for one of his movies, you instatly have to agree! And in this movie, Woody Allen has discovered a real gem, Cate Blanchett!

Movie starts with Cate Blanchett as Jasmine French on a plane mumbling and venting to and old women about her life, endlessly speaking without even noticing granny wants to step away.
"I'll call you for lunch", she says. "Oh wait I don´t even have your number". Granny´s all: who´s this psycho bimbo speaking to, just leave me. This reminds me I´m somewhat of a verbal harraser, I talk too much and frequently go on and on until I don´t even know if the person is still listening hahahah. ´

Jasmine French( such a chick and posy name by the way) leaves the plane after flying first class as a recent broke Newyork socialite who's having a nervous breakdown cause her husband Hal ( Alec Baldwin) is jailed for stealing uncountable money from honorable people. That´s the vanilla of the Sundae.

Being abandoned by everyone, included her son, she heads to the mini flat where her middle class sister lives in a desperate call for recovery. Inside her Louis Vuitton Suitcase from New York she comes with:

-a despicable husband who not only ,has made a fortune by stealing others people´s money, but is also a Pig women cheater who has fucked practically everyone right on Jasmine's face.

- A bag of Pills to deal with her anxiety and allucinations

All her luxury has been taken from her and she no longer recognises who she is, cause she´s capricious and needs money warmth. No money, so she substitutes it with pills and Vodka or her SPLENDOROUS martini´s.
No surprise then was when she deliberatly starts talking to herself on the street. Because of this, her lovely sister Ginger ( Sally Hawkins) finds in her heart the ability to forgive her step sister and decides to take care of her. Giving her the opportunity to do something with her life, get back on track. Here, we are not talking to a normal person, we are talking to a spoiled glitzy person who is completely unstable and insane. So this makes Cate Blanchett´s acting superb!!!

Surprise to us spectators was when she decides she wants to become an interior decorator(on the suggestion of her beloved Ginger, with all the patience of the world)  oh but wait, she doen´t have money , so yeah , she´ll do it online, but she doesn´t know how to use a computer HAHAHA. She ends up accepting a job as a dentists secretary in order to pay for her computer lessons. After an indecent preposition like Michael Douglass one in "disclosure" ,from the freak disgusting dentist, she becomes even more screwed. Picks on her sister entirely the whole day, reffering to her bad tastes in men and her ability to pick loosers. Like what does she know when her super millionaire
husband turned out to be an ass! Off this character goes and makes the same mistakes all over again. She attends a party invited by her friend from the computer lessons. She´s out for the same target: A rich man who can rescue her from the ground, rescue her from the dirt she believes she doesn´t deserve to be in.  She´s spoiled and for that her inner nerves are colliding and corrupting
her.  More pills, more pills , more alcohol and more monologues with herself as a phsycotic schyzophrenic.

I just love her acting!!!!! It's not about her husband´s corruption nor about his cheating on her, it's all about money and has always been about money.
She wants her diamonds , her loss of money has drove her to hell ,to her own hell. Down the hill she goes, rolling down all over the movie with her nervous collisions and crazy acting makes as laugh from minute one. First rate acting on a role I hadn´t seen Cate Blanchett before. A new high in a remarkable career as an actress.

Hitherto I want to alude to her clothing aswell. They say money doesn´t bring elegance and that the person isn´t elegant because of what she wears ,but by itself. BULLSHIT! If you can afford expensive textures and textiles be damn sure you´ll be the queen of the party. It´s true though that you need style ,cause honey if you wear brands, but ain´t have a clue how to wear them you would be picked upon as an ARGHH with bad taste!
Astory about how a woman can be flashlighted by all the goods and agreed to be spoiled.

A standing ovation, an incredible act. In a recent interview for Empire magazine UK she said:

"Working for woody is like a gladiatorial spot. You either sink or you swim, but when you are out there, trying to battle the lions,I did get a sense of what the film was.......alive. That much energy and that much care is fantastic."

Fried Green Tomatoes

A heart can be broken, but it keeps beating just the same......

Okay, I know A classic...but well you know me, I dig´em out of the soil, the old movies that everyone has forgotten to watch....
Fried Green Tomatoes ,my grandmas and her sister´s favorite, they used to watch it uncountless times when something was worrying them sick.

A movie with lots of values directed by Jon Avnet and made from the book by Fannie Flagg.
A the story of a housewife Evelyn, (played by Kathy Bates) unhappy with her life, who happens to meet an old lady called Ninny (Jessica Tandy) in the hospital that starts  telling her old stories.
And it´s all thanks to this stories that she begins to have a reason to smile.

Here comes the story of Idgie Threadgoode (Mary Stuart Masterson) and Ruth Jamison (Mary Louise Parker) and how "Fried Green Tomatoes" emerged.
The loss of a beloved old brother leads the way of this story. Idgie ,young as ever, grows apart from his family when loosing Buddy and only makes friendship with Ruth( his brother´s girlfriend). With the help of Ruth they get Idgie back on track.

When they both heal , after Buddy´s death, they become "the best of all friends". It´s unclear whether this two had a relationship. There was a bit of  a contradiction with this movie because it was 1991 ,and Hollywood, so they had to be careful how they treated sexuality  at those times.
Eitherways, despite all the clamour, they were good friends and stood up for each other.

Its practically after Ruth leaves and gets married that they have to go rescue her from the hands of  a husband who mistreats her. They take Ruth with them and build the "Fried Green Tomatoes" station bar. In this bar lots of blacks help and work for them both, at a time where the ku kux klan was emerging and there was begining to be a hatred against black people.
In this part I highlight the act of lovable Big George( Stan Shaw) who takes care, as a big daddy, of everyone in the Bar.
The movie takes part practically entirely in this Bar and all the situations which continue to arise daily:
the plight against the black, the persistant harrasing of Ruth´s ex-husband..... but all in all, lives the good ambiance and strong friendship of all its workers. They have become a little BIG family and no one can invade their fort.

Parallel to this story comes the one of Evelyn Couch( taking part simultaneously) how she becomes intrigued and delighted with Idgie´s story and as the expression says : "takes it home" .
A hidden personality arises inside her which she had forgot she had, accustomed to listen and avoid making decisions, she stands up for her own ideas and rebels against her daily grind.

It´s incredible to see how a person can change your life, how when Evelyn had given up on life, an encounter with an unexpected person makes THE CHANGE.
A Marvelous story where two people  meet at a concrete period of time and need the help of each other, Evelyn to make a change in her life and bring out her personality and the old lady from the hospitals need to remember her stories and avoid them to die inside her.

We should all do what we want , regardless of what others might think of you or try to impose behaviors in your life. You must always be honest with yourself and do as you wish.

There are a thousand times I wan´t to smash a Car, go psycho and just scream:

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOWANDA! its a warriors shout calling for an order in your life, advising you to Take a grip and confront a situation!
